These parrots are renowned for their high intelligence and speaking abilities, which some parrot experts say Greys do with full comprehension.  Two subspecies are common as companion parrots: the Congo and the Timneh.  The Congo is the larger of the two and typically is light gray with a bright red tail.  The Timneh are darker and smaller compared to the Congo Grey. They also have maroon colored tails versus the Congo's red tail.  Regardless of size and color, all Greys have the same potential for speaking and replicating an astonishing range of sounds.  As with any highly intelligent creature, it takes time and patience on the part of the owner for the Grey to reach its developmental capabilities.  Greys are considered medium-sized parrots and are suitable for a wide range of home environments.
