| As their name suggests, these
parrots originate in the Western Hemisphere’s tropical band. Like Greys, most Amazons are excellent talkers
and are medium-sized birds. In fact, some
Amazon owners say that their birds talk (and sing!) every bit as good
as the African Grey. Some consider Amazons
to be more demanding personalities, but we have found that the Amazon’s
characteristics depends more on its developmental environment and its
owner than genetics. Amazons are charming,
entertaining . . . and a bit spunky! Among
the more popular Amazons that we feature at Birds N’ Things are the
Double Yellow Head, the Blue Front, the Orange Wing, the Hispanolians
and the Red Lourdes. The most readily
distinguishing characteristic of the Amazon family of parrots is that
much of the bird’s body is primarily green – but with under wings,
tails and heads that offer stunning arrays of color. |
