Bird perches are probably one of the most important interactive things you need for your bird. Since birds spend a lot of time sitting places, providing them with a variety of perches that are interesting will keep them healthy and entertained.
One reason you should have different kinds of bird perches is because gripping different sizes of materials is good for your bird’s feet. It keeps them strong and exercised. Another reason is because different materials inspire your bird to explore the perch and try it out. Rubber, wood, and rope are all common materials for perches that birds enjoy.
There are many places that you can put bird perches. While in the cage and on the outside are the most obvious places, you can also put them wherever you spend a lot of time. If you have a desk you are at for extended periods of time, consider putting a perch on or near it so your bird can be there with you. There are even perches with suction cups you can buy and put in the shower so your bird can have a place to clean itself!
