Bird Cage CoverA lot of people enjoy having outdoor bird cages for their pets. If they have a hobby that they take outside, such as reading, crafts, or gardening, it is nice for a person to take their bird outside with them. This allows the bird to enjoy getting some fresh air and sunshine and to stay close to their owner.
Outdoor bird cages can be the same size as the one you have inside the house, being just the right size for the bird. Or they can be big enough that you can walk into them with your bird. These really give them room to stretch their wings and play while they are outside. These are generally made of a sturdy metal such as stainless steel. These aviaries are expensive, but worth it, especially if you have one or more large parrots.
Some people keep their birds in an outdoor cage all the time, but this isn’t really recommended. This only works in very warm climates, and your birds will be less likely to form a strong bond with you this way. This method works well if you are caring for a wild bird that has been injured and would not survive on its own in the wild. The birds can become accustomed to people, but they are still wild, so bonding is difficult anyway.
Most people use the outdoor cage as a place to let their bird enjoy the outdoors while being completely safe from predators. Predators can include cats, dogs, and other birds. Birds of prey might see your bird and try to hunt it if it is not protected.
Because of this risk, you definitely want to check for good structure on your outdoor cage. Metal cages are best, and you want it to have a sturdy base. If an animal such as a cat or small dog jumps at the bird, you want the cage to be difficult to tip. If the cage is tipped, you want one that is strong enough to not break. Even if the cage is lying down, your bird is safest inside it.
For smaller breeds of birds, a hanging cage might be best for keeping them safe. A hanging cage does not have anything for a cat or other animal to climb, so it is much more difficult for them to get to the cage.
Some people only have one bird cage, and they use it both indoors and out. Large cages for parrots often come with castors on them, so they can be gently rolled outside. Small cages can generally just be carried out.
You will find the largest selection of outdoor bird cages in a store that specializes in birds. Looking online will provide you with an impressive variety of cages, both large and small. It is fairly easy to find the right cage, and you can have it delivered right to your door.
Outdoor bird cages are simple to set up, so your bird can be enjoying its new playground within a few hours of it arriving.
