Bird Cage CoverMany avian enthusiasts use wild bird feed to attract a variety of local bird species. This is usually done because a person likes to watch the birds congregate in the backyard. Avid bird watchers also like to try and attract harder to spot local species as well.

One of the most basics of wild bird feed is sunflower seeds. Most birds will flock to a feeder full of these seeds. Many people combine these seeds with whole peanuts and other avian delights.

There are also alternative types of wild bird feed as well. Chunks of fruit and even mealworms will often attract the rarer species of birds in your area. Sugar water is also a good way to attract certain bird species.
